Well this is my second year doing the USWTS Women’s Sprint Triathlon in Naperville, Illinois. This year I am doing it with a friend which sounds way more exciting than going it alone. She is not a swimmer but she is a better cyclist than me. It will be interesting to see how many times we pass one another. Both of us will be walking most of the run so it would be fun to walk together at least part of the way.
Last year my times were:
Swim .5 Miles (11:47)
Bike 14.7 Miles (55:42)
Run 3.11 Miles (41:22)
Total Official Time 1:58:34
Not so great, but not shabby for the first time and my age 😉
I think a goal for this year is to get the transition times down, especially swim to bike. I have not been training hard on the bike (no spin classes this year) so my goal is to at least hold my own… and the goal for the run is 35 minutes. I know that is slow for that run, but I am not a runner. I conserved energy last year on the swim, so I may try to go out harder there as well. I guess my new fitness level will help, but we shall see. My unofficial goal is to finish under 1:45:00 but once again it is for fun, so as long as I have fun that is what counts.
I am still trying to pick my pre-race foods. I should eat carbs with no fats on Saturday night so I am thinking oil free Basil Pesto with Quinoa pasta and a salad. Sunday AM should also be low protein, low fat carbs so I think I will make the cereal I was eating on the cleanse and have that with fresh berries. Yum.
