“Soy vejetarian estricto; nada de origen animal por favor.” I don’t know much Spanish, but this I have learned.
I have no idea if it will help me, and since they speak Catalan in Barcelona, and not really Spanish (it’s a mix of French and Spanish, it appears) I am not sure if it is even right, but we are going to give it a shot.
I am nervous and excited about my trip. I can tell that eating will not be easy. Fruit for breakfast and salad for lunch will be fairly easy to do, I think, it is more the avoidance of bread and cheese that will prove to be difficult. I just have to hope I fair well. I am determined but worried. I just have to go with the flow and see how things fall into place.
I am taking raw almonds and Lara Bars. That will help. And I am prepared to eat in small quantities when I do eat something I have not been eating, so I do not tax my system. Rice is a big dish there, so rice and beans should be available… but it will be white rice and not brown, so my body will still see an insulin spike it is not used to seeing.
I just noticed I never published this post. Since I leave tomorrow it should be a fitting way to go into my trip! I am so excited, having never been to Barcelona, much less Spain so I am thrilled. I got the book “The Carrie Diaries” By Candace Bushnell for the flight time so I am also excited to relax with a (hopefully) good book during my journey.
