Week 6 is in the history books, and today I started week 7 with full force. This is my last strength week before recovery in Phase 2. I am going to do my very, very best.
Well, ’cause I have to do things to the extremes sometimes, I have decided to change my 14 day challenge to the April 30 Day Vegan Cleanse Challenge. Yes, that is right. Thirty days without CAFFEINE, SUGAR, ALCOHOL, GLUTEN, OR MEAT PRODUCTS OF ANY KIND.
I felt like I needed to learn more about the food combination strategies of being vegetarian and vegan, especially when it comes to protein. I have tried to go vegetarian, vegan, and ultimately all raw foods or predominantly raw foods in the past and had trouble.
Because of the nuts, you have to watch your fats so carefully. While they are good whole food fats, fat is fat and this girl needs to watch them. The fact that I have my Bodybugg and can monitor a deficit will help greatly this time, so I feel a little more confident.
I also found Karma Chow and Melissa Costello and have enlisted some assistance in going for the 30 Day Vegan Cleanse. I am still participating in the Challenge at Beachbody but I will be starting 4/1 (4 days before them) and finishing 4/30 after they finish. I know it takes more than 2 weeks to feel the effect of a cleanse, especially with Detox (learning this studying to be a raw foods chef) and it takes 21 days or more to make a habit… so I decided with Melissa’s sage advice to do the 30 days. She knows I have a trip to Spain soon after and will be helping me with food re-introduction so that I don’t get sick.
I am actually really psyched about it. I helped turn my sister-in-law onto raw foods and she does a raw food vegan cleanse once or twice a year, says it makes her feel so great. The ones I have done have also been great, but I never sustained much after wards. I am hoping that this time with all of this healthy focus and sheer will I can settle into a Vegetarian lifestyle and maintain that going forward. Two more days of dairy and I am off. I already dropped gluten and meat, next is fructose. I am not eating much sugar so to speak, but the fructose in my Shakeology, while allowed in the 14 day challenge, will not be a part of my 30 day cleanse so tomorrow is my last shake for 30 days or so. I shall miss it!
I still haven’t weighed myself but will tomorrow for the beginning of the 30 day cleanse and again Sunday for the beginning of the 14 day challenge. I will try to document (short posts) how things go. I really hope this can jump start lasting change in my world of food.
